The WS01 Chromium-6 Wipe Sample Set is designed for the structured collection of dust that may contain Cr(VI). The set is suitable for taking representative samples from surfaces in industrial installations, workshops, maintenance areas, and remediation projects.

- Bottle with cap: For safe storage and transport of the collected sample. The same bottle is used by the laboratory during analysis, so no sample material is lost.
- Glove: For protection during sample collection. Calcium chromate is poorly soluble in water but can partially dissolve, meaning skin absorption is possible. Wearing gloves is therefore essential.
- Wipe cloth: For collecting dust from surfaces.
- Grid: Used to mark off a defined surface area, so sampling is consistent and reproducible.
Use and application #
The WS01 complies with ASTM D6966-18, the standard for wipe sampling of surfaces for subsequent analysis of metals and Cr(VI) compounds.
- Sample collection: Use the grid and the prescribed wiping technique as specified in ASTM D6966-18 to collect a representative sample from surfaces where Cr(VI) is suspected.
- Safety: Wear the glove provided throughout sampling to avoid direct contact with potentially hazardous material.
- Combined with laboratory analysis or test kit: The WS01 provides standardised sample collection. To determine the actual presence and concentration of Cr(VI), the collected sample should be analysed using the SEEF TK01 Cr(VI) Test Kit or submitted to SEEF for laboratory analysis. The TK01 detects Cr(VI) without interference from matrix effects that can otherwise affect results.
