Metallic zinc in the coating can reduce Cr(VI) to Cr(III), causing false-negative results.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" data-sourcepos=\"21:1-21:162;1080-1241\"><strong>Indicative result.<\/strong> A positive colour reaction indicates the presence of Cr(VI), but laboratory analysis is required for a definitive and quantitative result.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" data-sourcepos=\"23:1-23:173;1243-1415\"><strong>When in doubt.<\/strong> A negative result does not rule out the presence of Cr(VI).
